Who are we?
Who are we? by Jennifer and Meclina.
We are childhood friends who grew up in Carver, Massachusetts. We left the area and pursued our respective professions.Recently reconnected, we found ourselves like many Americans concerned for our community and our country’s emotional health. This conversation touched on many layers for us: the pandemic, the economic strife we saw all around us and the social justice movements taking place. Over the past year, we were profoundly touched by the lack of acknowledgement of the “loss” communities have felt during this difficult chapter in our country’s history. We felt compelled to act and spent the last nine months collaborating and formalizing our efforts to make this a reality.
Carver MA, is one of the largest growers of cranberries in the world.
We’ve iterated together, honed our mission and refined the projects we are launching; all this was done with support from other artists and invested community members. It seems fitting that we start with our own community, Plymouth, Massachusetts: “America’s Hometown.” Together in partnership with the Plymouth Town Planner,The Plymouth Bay Cultural District, and with in-kind support from The Plymouth Center for the Arts, we have begun developing the first of what we anticipate will be many projects.

We will document these art projects on social media (follow us on Instagram @community_art_collaborative) using the hashtag #inthistogether. We hope to support healing, economic rejuvenation and inclusion with our art projects. Our goal is to inspire others, demonstrate how easy it is to develop art that all community members can participate in creating; help facilitate and potentially fund projects in communities around the country.
